Economic Outlook

A preliminary forecast for 2002

The main results are that economic growth is estimated to drop down to 1.5 per cent from 2 per cent in the last forecast. The current account deficit in 2001 is estimated to be 73 billion is/kr,which is a largely unchanged estimate from before. On the other hand consumer price index rose about 9.4 per cent in the course of 2001 and by 6.5 per cent on average between 2000 and 2001. However inflation is projected to slow during the latter part of the year and consumer prices are projected to rise by 3.5 per cent in the course of the year 2002.
